Smelling good is an important part of making your home feel welcoming and inviting. While commercial air fresheners can help with air and odor management, they often contain harsh chemicals that can be harmful to the environment, while natural alternatives like candles or plants will only worsen the problem with their fragrant oils.

Home scenting and getting rid of unwanted odors is not limited to harsh cleaners or air fresheners alone. You can eliminate unpleasant smells for good with the help of a few simple tricks. For starters:

Use Essential Oil Diffusers

You know that feeling when you wake up in the morning and your whole house smells like lavender? That’s because essential oil diffusers are a great way to release their scent.

Not only do they help eliminate stinky odors, but these timers also leave our homes smelling divine. And we don’t need any more convincing than this: researchers have found out some pretty amazing benefits from using them too—including improvements in health and well-being for people who live with chronic pain or sleep disorders.

If you have pets or little kids at home, using scented candles is not recommended. Fortunately an essential oil diffuser can be a wonderful alternative. Since it distributes the scent evenly and creates aromatherapy which is said to reduce stress levels and provide a calming effect.

Use a Lemon Basil Room Spray

You can never go wrong with a lemon basil room spray. It’s so easy to make and smells great. First, boil ¾ cup of water in the kettle or pot then pour it into your liquid measuring cup along with 4 tablespoons of dried basic herbs like lavender flowers for fragrance as well.

Distilled water is great for keeping your funnel tasting fresh and not being too heavily influenced by any one ingredient. To do this, simply line the inside of a coffee filter with it before adding in ¾ cup (or more) of boiling distilled H2O along with 5 drops each of lemon essential oil and dried basil leaves.

Try Essential Oil Wax Melts

To create your own essential oil wax melts, you will need a slow cooker and silicone molds. Add the plastic liner into the bottom half of your crockpot before adding 2 cups soy wax pellets for melting purposes.

In order to make this project even easier (and mess free), place all ingredients in one bowl so that they are ready to use when assembly time comes around. Mix well with either a hand mixer or spoon until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.

Make sure the heat is set to low and then add a teaspoon of lavender essential oil, ½ teaspoons vetiver essential oil, and ¾ cedar wood. Add these ingredients slowly while stirring continuously until they’ve been fully mixed with your wax base in order to prevent clumping or separation during the heating process.

After mixing thoroughly, remove the liner. Set in a liquid measuring cup and fold over its edge so that there is no excess plastic hanging out of this side. Next sprinkle dried lavender onto your silicone mold before pouring on wax mixture.

To store your candles, remove them from the molds and allow to cool until they are completely solid. You can then use these for various purposes.

Use Linen Sprays

Linen sprays can freshen beddings, clothes and towels so your home smells great. To make a linen spray take one tablespoon of vodka in with you when shopping for fabric softener because that will sweeten it up.

Then after adding the liquid measuring cup pour into an empty reusable bottle before filling with water to create this amazing essential oil-based all natural smell anywhere inside or outside your house.
